We will try to show "The Best Years of Our Lives" again this week. However, if not enough people come, we'll have to pospone it again. This film is certainly worth watching, so come on time so we can start it on time. Some people need sleep (like me). Three World War II veterans return home only to find that re-entry into life is sometimes more difficult than the front lines.

Score this Test

Last week's movie night was a flop because nobody came (even us) due to the fact that another party was scheduled for the same time. Thus, we will be watching that movie at a later date. This week there is yet another event planned, but we are hoping to keep movie night alive.
So, first dinner at 8pm for those going to that party. The moment the meal gets over, we are going to be rushing back to our house to watch "The Perfect Score". The film is rated PG-13 for "language, sexual content and some drug references." And while there are certainly things that we should not emulate in the film, nothing is worse that what you would happen across on a High School campus today.
And the insights of this film are phenominal. Great stuff. Highly recommended. Please come.

The Best Years

Last week we have a huge turnout (that's what you get for good advertising and a well-known blockbuster). This week we return to the early days of filmmaking when ratings were not even in place. "The Best Years of Our Lives" is a great (albeit long) film. Please come on time and ready to watch this incredible story of pain and joy, reunion and rejection.

Still Running

Last week we watched "High Noon" with Grace Kelly, so it was a major hit (she's a severe hottie!).
This week we switch gender eye candy, and while guys certainly are not turned on by Harrison Ford, we love to watch him do cool stuff. So, come to movie night and watch "The Fugitive". This film is rated PG-13 for "murder and other action sequences in an adventure setting". It is intense and heartpounding. There is blood and death. I don't recall any specific sexual activity, but he was married and his wife was murdered, so there may be something. Hope to see you all there.

Waking the Devine

This week we will be watching "Waking Ned Devine", a comedy set in Ireland.
The film is rated PG for nudity (the butts of a couple old men appear now and again... be warned!), language, and "thematic elements" (death?).
We hope you can all come out and enjoy this film with us. Come ready for some good laughs and talking afterward.

"Casablanca" is unrated, as it was made before ratings came about. We will be watching this movine on Saturday, if we can get our hands on a copy. If you are coming and have such a copy, please let us know.

Ready for Another One?

This week we will be watching "Spanglish." It is rated PG-13 for sexuality (one sex scene where they keep almost all there clothes on) and language.
We will again be in the garage, and if we have to, we'll take over the rest of it to make room.
And, a reminder, if you choose to bring food to share, we won't turn it down.

A Good Citizen

For those who are wondering, we are still alive. And the good news is that we have trash pick up today. Speaking of that, I'll be right back....
Okay, where was I? Ah, yes. We now have trash service again. Hopefully our choice was not only cost effective but also environmentally sound. But enough about our garbage, you all want to hear about Movie Night.
Last week we watched "Truman Show", but unfortunately we got started late and so the movie ended late and so we couldn't talk much. Thus, we hope to start the movie at 9pm from now on. And what movie will we be watching?
"Citizen Kane"
This film is often cited as the best film ever made. It is rated PG.

Movie Nights

We have officially started movie nights at our house. So if you want to join us, please do. We watch a movie every Saturday night when people show up after church. We watched "The Emperor's New Groove" last week.
This coming week we will be watching "The Truman Show". It is rated PG. There is some language and references to sex.
For those of you who will be joining us for the first time, we want you to know that we don't just watch the movie. We also eat snacks (so bring some if you would be so kind), and we talk about the film afterward. Even after "Emperor's New Groove" we got into some really interesting topics. Hope you make it Saturday.

Buy Me! Buy Me!

Since we have moved into our lovely home, we have had a steady stream of phone solicitors offering free gifts and expensive products. Luke, with great enjoyment, has watched all their demos and turned them all down - all but one, that is. One thing looked (and tasted) too good to pass up, so we went it. We bought meat. 8 months worth, as a matter of fact.

It isn't as strange as it sounds.

We joined up with Town & Country Foods, and have all of our meat, fish, and frozen veggies delievered driectly to our new indusrial strength freezer in our basement. It's fantastic, so far. The meat quality is much better then anything we have come across in the store. It doesn't have any additives, so it is much healthier. What's more, we are paying about the same amount as we would were we shopping at !

Anyhow, I like it. If are interested, we'd be happy to refer you. Let us know. They will even give you free meat just for taliking to them! And really, who can argue with that!

New House

Well, here we are, back in Colorado, married, in our own house, working from home in my own business. We have had an endless stream of people coming and going (which is great) and an even more continuous parade of calls from people trying to sell us stuff (which is not quite so great).
We arrived in Colorado Monday night, July 18. The 24th we had an Open House, meaning we had moved everything out of the truck, gone to my house, loaded it, then unloaded again, and set up the house. A couple weeks later we had our first overnight guests who stayed for three days. And now we are opening up our house for D-Groups (Descipleship Groups) with the youth group come September. We also want to host movie nights in the very near future.
God has been incredibly good to us. We are virtually free of debt, in a house, and have only purchased a microwave. Everything else has been given to us, and our house is already almost full. The fact that we have been able to host people demostrates how much God has given to us. We pray that we will be able to continue to be a blessing with the blessings God has dumped on us.
Work has been a bit more stressful, however. Bills are soon to start piling up, and I have yet to complete a DVD. I have lost a Hard Drive and had to rework a DVD project flaw. Also, Voice Over work turned out to be impractical, and so I have to live with the errors. Even so, things are looking up in the business arena.
We have shifted our focus to biographies, and hope to start producing a couple of them a month sometime in September (and I really hope to move Becca out here soon!).

A Bouquet of Blessings

It is customary (though I have no idea why) to collect the ribbons from the bridal shower(s) and form them into a bouquet. I have done this and the ribbons from my three showers are now gathered into a beautiful and rather large bouquet. I am constantly amazed when I look at it.

Each ribbon represents a blessing. Every gift and card is an example of God's provision for me and Luke as we start our life together. It is a bouquet of blessings, designed by God and built by His people.

For everyone who has given us something, thank you. It is amazing to watch how God is providing through so many friends.

Ceramic Turkey Plates?

Yes, we've got some. It is our first set of holiday/festive/celebrative hosting dishes. We've got a platter, a pie pan, three bowls, and two small plates. All for serving, not eating. You can check out what it looks like here. I think they are "cute," Luke thinks they are "hilarious," and we figure we mean roughly the same thing. So, if you ever come over for thanksgiving, be prepaired to be greeted by some of the cutest (or most hilarious) turkey serving dishes you have ever seen!

Disneyland Pennies...

Every time we go to Disneyland we smash a penny in one of those smasher thingies. We have tried to compile a list of the ones we have smashed already so we don't get duplicates. However, we keep misplacing the list. Therefore, I have decided to post the current list that I hold so I can throw it out and not worry about it anymore. We can then come back and update it whenever we get a new one.

Wedding Dress

My mum and I drove through the pouring rain to find a dress. I knew I had to get it done in January since I would never have time when school started. We went to several different places: Davids Bridal, Jinny's Bridal Salon, and Castle for Brides (weird and expensive). I found several Maggie Sotero dresses at Jinny's Bridal (here is one I liked) but I didn't commit.

I narrowed my choices down to three - (choices one and two) and went to David's for a second fitting. While there, I tried on one I hadn't tried before... and liked it. I liked it a lot. So I bought it on the spot, and now it is hanging from a hook behind my parent's door.

I cannot tell you what it looks like, that would ruin the surprise. Besides, Luke would have none of it. You will just have to see for yourself come July!

Proposal (Abridged)

On Thanksgiving Day, Luke and I went to the local park. After a jaunt around the pond and a few minutes of duck-watching, we made our way to a sunny hillside. Luke told me that he loved me and was thankfull for me. He washed and kissed my feet. Then, with a goofy grin he pulled the ring out of his backpack and said "Brittany Wilson, will you marry me?" I said yes.
